Following the issue of a divorce application you have to wait 20 weeks before being in a position to apply for a Conditional Order. Following such application timescales can vary and there could be a further 3-6 weeks to wait for the pronouncement of the Conditional Order. Once this have been pronounced a Final Order can be applied for 6 weeks and 1 day later. The minimum period therefore is 26 weeks and 1 day but would generally be longer.

There is only one ground for a Divorce and that is that the parties’ marriage has irretrievably broken down.
