Lasting and Enduring Powers of Attorney registration fees reduced
With effect from 1st April 2017, the Government has reduced their fee for applying to register Lasting and Enduring Powers of Attorney. The fee reduced from £110 to £82 making a reduction of £28 and the fees for resubmitting a Lasting Power of Attorney for registration fell from £55 to £41.
So what was the reason for the reduction?
The Government’s reduction was led by a high number of Lasting Power of Attorney applications that the OPG received in recent years which has driven down the cost of the service.
It is hoped that the reduction in fees will encourage more people to create Lasting Powers of Attorney which are important legal documents allowing someone you trust to make decisions for you if you are no longer able to due to physical or mental impairment such as a severe accident or illnesses such as a heart attack, cancer or stroke.
Without Lasting Powers of Attorney, your friends or family may have to contend with the Court of Protection which is costly and time consuming.
