The Low Pay Commission (LPC) is seeking views on the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) rates that should apply from April 2017.
Whereas the NMW rates have traditionally been set with a view to avoiding any detriment to employment figures, the NLW is subject to a target rate of 60 per cent of median earnings by 2020. In particular, the LPC is interested in evidence on the effect of the introductory NLW wage rate of £7.20 per hour, for workers aged 25 and over, on workers, employers, the labour market and the economy, as well as seeking views on the projected target rates going forward.
Further information can be found here. The consultation is open until 29 July 2016.
